Beatdown with Scratch Perverts

The Scratch Perverts’ nine year history of fabric takeovers under the Beatdown moniker – and the red hot mix CD that followed on fabric Records last year – documents an extensive voyage of electronic discovery. Through the sheer variety of club music they’ve housed over the years they’ve helped numerous strains of the British underground bubble through our brickwork. This year, on the 12th November, the Perverts trio are curating another astonishingly varied Beatdown lineup, epitomising the diversity the nights are renowned for, with a whole heap of talent spanning all three rooms thrown in for good measure.

From the throat grabbing, bass fuelled intensity of artists like Doctor P and Bassnectar to the dubstep themed offshoots of artists like Punch Drunk’s Guido and one of bass music hottest properties, Untold and off into the soulful rhythmic vibrations of Benji B, this year’s Beatdown has all styles covered.

Having made a name for himself on he city’s battle scene he began work with local legends such as DJ Houseshoes & Waajeed as well as becoming part of several local groups; The Breakfast Club alongside Dwele & Big Tone and later 925 Colony with Nick Speed and Magestik Legend. Having met J-Dilla, then known as Jay Dee, through his collaborations with Waajeed he was invited to feature on the brilliant “Welcome To Detroit” and then later to become an official member of Slum Village while working alongside Baatin on “Fantastic Vol.2”. With an unparalleled versatility of delivery and intricate wordplay Elzhi has gained armies of fans all over the world the London battalion of which will be out in force tonight.

Elzhi

Phat Kat was the surprise package of The Doctor’s Orders 4th Birthday at Herbal where he blew the crowd apart with his phenomenal stage presence and no holds barred delivery. We have been looking forward to welcoming him back since and the time is nigh. He started his career as a member of 1st Down alongside Jay Dee whom he continued to collaborate with throughout his career. Set to perform the slamming “Cold Steel” as well as other brilliant tracks from “Carte Blanche” and beyond this man has to be seen & heard to be believed.

DJ Dez has been on The Doctor’s Orders wish list for a good while now. Both under his guise as Slum Village’s DJ Dez and as his producer alter ego Andres he is a phenomenal talent perfectly suited to the open minded, fun loving crowd that pack out The Doctor’s Order’s events every time.

Spin Doctor
is the driving force behind the phenomenal success of The Doctor’s Orders and while not planning domination of the UK’s party scene is most at ease behind a set of decks. The early influence of his 5 older brothers and sisters record collections developed into an obsession with soul tinged music of all styles which he uses to this day when treating dance-floors to his fearless sets of party platters.

Rusty Ryan will be throwing down killer OG soul breaks to brand new bangers to mark the 1st anniversary of Brighton’s finest Hip Hop party. Spinning everything from Stevie Wonder to 9th Wonder, Rusty’s soul drenched sounds will take the dance floor to boiling point!

Beyond The Clouds w/ Lil Louis, Pepe Bradock + more – November 13th

Corsica Studios is extremely proud to present Beyond The Clouds, a joint project brought to you by Süd Electronic, Bodyhammer and TOTHEBONE. Beyond The Clouds is a series of fantasy house nights featuring line-ups we’ve dreamed of for years and the first party features extended sets from two true house originals – Chicago’s Lil’ Louis and Paris’ Pepe Bradock.

Timeless hit maker, fierce DJ and the man behind the most famous orgasm in house history, Lil’ Louis plays his music the way it’s supposed to be played – house, disco and techno mixed hard and fast for your dancing pleasure. When the night is right and his sets aren’t being recorded – and this one won’t be – Louis has a reputation for throwing all manner of old, unreleased material into his DJ sets. Be sure you’re there to hear it.

Pepe Bradock is responsible for some of the wildest, most creative house records of the last decade.  In an increasingly formalised genre, he remains a dependably surprising presence. Tracks like “Deep Burnt’, ‘Life’, ‘4’ and ‘The Path Of Most Resistance’ and remixes for the likes of Iz & Diz, Blaze and Charles Webster have an originality which never alienates their dancers – a combination Pepe also brings to his DJ sets. They’ll be taking charge of one room each, with hometown support from Lakuti, Joe Hart, Rik Moran and Charlie & Dave TTB.

Plan B new single ‘Love Goes Down’ drops December 6th on Atlantic

Having just scooped the award for Q’s Breakthrough Artist of the year and the MOBO for best RnB and Soul and rounding off his biggest sold out UK tour to date, Ben Drew is ready to release his next single ‘Love Goes Down’ as a pre Christmas treat.

But it won’t stop there, 2011 looks set to bring even bigger and better things for Ben Drew, with a massive arena tour around the country taking in his biggest ever show at London’s O2 arena in March.

Continuing to be the busiest man in pop, Ben has also been working exceptionally hard on his directorial feature film debut, ‘Ill Manors’ which is due for release later 2010.

SON OF KICK – “GUACHA” – single release 15th NOVEMBER 2010

Check the latest AWESOME video here which has had over 8000 hits and was only posted on Saturday which shows the depth of his following!

You can check his live mix at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide festival this summer:
http://www.mixcloud.com/sonofkick/son-of-kick-live-worldwide-festival-2010-sete-30-mins-edit/

And mixes for the likes of Tokyo Police Squad, Bassnectar, Federico Aubele and Husky Rescue as well as Justin Timberlake and Jay Z @
www.soundcloud.com/sonofkick

This monstrous slab of bass driven, hip hop fuelled beatmastery lined with THE most catchy lyrical chant from New York’s Natalia Clavier (ESL MUSIC WASHINGTON DC).  It’s club banger; it’s commercial radio hit; it’s underground.  Once again Son Of Kick nailed it by crossing boundaries and ticking boxes other producers can’t.

Alongside the original, Son Of Kick looked to the talents of Disiz, Grems and Micro Coz for added power for the “Guacha Rekix” version. Additionally, “Revolution B”, an equally massive tune from his aforementioned EP, was added to the vinyl 12” to complete the package while the digital version of the single (which is included as a free download for vinyl buyers) offers a dub version and also acapella.
